1- GUBI takes over Bagni Misteriosi
Milan Design Week 2023 was a total feast for the eyes, with brands from all over the world showcasing their creative genius. But let's be real, we were all waiting for the moment we could dive into the wonderland that was the GUBI exhibition. As die-hard fans of classic furniture design, we were on the edge of our seats to see their legendary chairs in glory!
And let us tell you, we were not disappointed. The chairs were as stunning as ever, with their timeless beauty and unbeatable comfort. But what really blew us away was GUBI's insane setup.
They took over a public swimming pool, Bagni Misteriosi, and turned it into a whimsical display of their chairs, complete with magical installations and settings that had us feeling like we were living in a dream. Visitors could engage with the outdoor furniture and get a taste of laid-back summer living (the bottomless spritzes helped set the mood), as well as enjoy an indoor setup celebrating the Beetle chair!
We were mesmerised by the incredible creativity and attention to detail that went into the exhibition, and it was clear that GUBI had pulled out all the stops to give visitors an unforgettable experience.
All in all, the GUBI exhibition was an absolute standout at Milan Design Week 2023. We can't wait to see what they come up with next, and we're already counting down the days until we can immerse ourselves in their world of wonder once again! We left feeling inspired and uplifted and dove right into some stunning coffee tables.
2- Glas Italia explores endless possibilities
Get ready to have your mind blown, because Glas Italia has done it again! This glass master is known for pushing boundaries and creating pieces that leave us speechless. And now, they've teamed up with the brilliant Patricia Urquiola to create the coffee tables of our dreams.
These tables are a true work of art. Made with cast glass in delectable candy-coloured shades, they're so stunning that you'll want to eat them up (and don't worry, we won't judge you). And the best part? You won't want to cover them up with your coffee table books - they deserve to be the centre of attention.
The precision and craftsmanship that went into creating these tables is unparalleled. And with Urquiola's impeccable design eye, you know these pieces are going to be show-stoppers. With these table you'll be able to add some serious style to your home - so much so that your guests won't be able to stop talking about them!
3- "Beyond the Surface" by SolidNature and OMA
Now last but certainly not the least. Buckle up because it's a wild ride! We were blown away by the SolidNature and OMA architects exhibitions - an immersive dreamscape that was nothing short of mind-blowing. The display was adorned with beautiful stones that looked like they were straight out of a fairy tale.
But what really caught our attention was the innovative use of displays from last year's Milan Design Week, which were repurposed into stairs for this year's exhibition. It added a touch of continuity and creativity that was truly impressive.
And wait, it gets better! They rented out an entire historical Italian family home just for the underground car park, which they transformed into their pop up installation. It was like we were transported to an underground world where the stones are formed - it was gritty, edgy, and oh so cool.
The winding paths, soft lighting, and natural materials created an otherworldly experience that felt like we were walking through a dream. We couldn't help but contemplate the relationship between humans and nature as we wandered through the exhibition. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving our planet's resources and living in harmony with nature.
Overall, the SolidNature exhibition were a true highlight of Milan Design Week 2023. It was a mind-bending display of creativity, innovation, and artistry that left us feeling inspired and energised. We can't wait to see what they come up with next year!
