When Modern Scandinavian Meets Feminine Elegance

What happens when you need to design for both sophisticated entertaining and three little girls under one roof? You get creative with materiality.

This three-storey cluster house had all the right bones but it lacked any hint of personality our client craved. The brief was deliciously challenging: create a modern Scandinavian sanctuary that could handle both elegant dinners and daily chaos with three daughters. We knew the answer lay in striking that perfect balance between feminine charm and grown-up sophistication.

The real magic started with microcement, that silk-smooth material we used to create a kitchen island that makes it feel like you are having breakfast on a sculpture. But the true showstopper? The dark-veined Calacatta Viola marble we introduced in the master bedroom's vanity area and living room, a contrast so eye-catching it stops you mid-conversation. We can't keep our eyes off that gorgeous veining either! Think feminine pinks mixed with moody marble drama, the kind of combination that makes design lovers weak in the knees.

In the living room, we gave the feature wall the full royal treatment with panelling that channels pure elegance. Those crisp architectural lines needed grounding, so we brought in jute rugs for that perfect hit of natural texture, sophisticated yet completely livable. The same thoughtful materiality philosophy carried through every space, from the welcoming basement family room to everywhere else around the home.

Sometimes the most beautiful transformations aren't about starting from scratch, they're about mix and matching all those unexpected materials together to make for a considered and personalised home.
